"DECOMPOSITION"
9 top-shelf heavy guitar trax
(MLF01) |
"Decomposition", the excellent fourth studio disc from guitar ace MICHAEL LEE FIRKINS, features 9 awesome trax of superb, outstanding, top-shelf, bad-ass, bluesy, retro-70's heavy guitar magic that stands the test of time. A remarkable, well-crafted musical document that is essential listening for serious six-string lovers around the globe.MICHAEL LEE FIRKINS (former SHRAPNEL RECORDS shredder) is a genuine guitar monster from America’s heartland. He is a gifted player, effortlessly mixing flawless technique, beautiful tones and tons of bluesy feel throughout his excellent riffage. Using a whammy bar to create stunning slide guitar sounds and licks, Firkins has created his own voice on the instrument, a unique and original style on the guitar that is all his own. “Decomposition”, a mature collection of both well-known and obscure cover songs (including one brilliant original track entitled “The Window” which was written for Robert Plant), is a fitting tribute to his musical “roots”. Complete with superb, refreshing arrangements that fit in perfectly with Firkins’ masterful guitar vibe. “Decomposition” opens with a ball-bustin’ version of the classic Johnny Winter track “Still Alive And Well” that will kick your blues/rock ass. Other highlights on the disc include two unique and excellent Hendrix jams ("Manic Depression" & "Little Wing") that do “The Man” some serious justice. (Long live the musical spirit of Jimi Hendrix). Also featured on the “Decomposition” disc are Firkins' awesome versions of two outstanding Lynyrd Skynyrd tracks ("I Need You" & "I Know A Little"), among other killer trax, the latter featuring mega-awesome vox from obscure vocal god, Sonny Reece. Reece lands on three trax with his classic, powerful, clean, soulful, bluesy, 70’s rock vox and is a force to reckoned with. The excellent combination of Firkins' amazing guitar playing and Reece’s killer bluesy vox make for some excellent listening enjoyment. “Decompostion” is a damn fine album from start to finish.
The MICHAEL LEE FIRKINS: “decomposition” disc is an excellent bluesy heavy guitar ripper that is HIGHLY recommended to fans of JIMI HENDRIX, ROBIN TROWER, JOHNNY WINTER, DOYLE BRAMHALL, RICHIE KOTZEN, ERIC JOHNSON, JOE SATRIANI, MICHAEL LANDAU, JOE BONAMASSA, ANDY TIMMONS, GREG KOCH, INDIGENOUS, CRAIG ERICKSON, BUDDAHEADS, SKY HIGH & CLAS YNGSTROM, PLANKTON and any other outstanding killer bluesy heavy guitar axemasters that rule on the six-sting machine.
Grooveyard Records is all about REAL guitar music and we love the awesome, brilliant, deep, bluesy “TOTAL GUITAR” riffage of MICHAEL LEE FIRKINS. If you haven’t tuned into him or you somehow missed the boat, then it’s high time for serious guitar freaks worldwide to unite and tune into the incredible bluesy heavy guitar magic found on the superb “Decomposition” disc.
