... Welcome to the Grooveyard Report ...

MAY - 2001

... We sign a licensing deal for the Craig Erickson Project "Shine" disc with MASCOT/PROVOGUE RECORDS in Holland. Release date is set for July 2001. This version of the Shine disc will be distributed throughout Europe with a Craig Erickson European tour to follow later this year. We start talking about the next Craig Erickson disc which should see release by the end of the year or early 2002.

... And, last but not least, we start talking to an amazing, instrumental, dual heavy guitar band from Sweden called PLANKTON about doing a disc for Grooveyard Records. PLANKTON features some of the best "TOTAL GUITAR" music we've heard in a long time and they bring new meaning to the term "pure heavy guitar beauty". Both guitarists in Plankton are equally amazing and accomplished and the musical interplay is perfection in the making. If you live and breathe the "guitar" like we do, you are gonna "get off hard" on Plankton. Stay tuned to the Grooveyard for more info and details on this awesome heavy guitar band. APRIL - 2001

... Our good musical brother and axemaster supreme, Chris Poland, was featured in the Megadeth - "Behind the Music" special on VH1. Chris talked about his daze in "mighty" Megadeth. These days Chris is busy in L.A. working on his studio and gearing up for the OHM disc. It's going to be a heavy guitar monster!!!

... We start working on several new Grooveyard projects. We have some amazing "pure heavy guitar beauty" on the backburner. Stay tuned to the Grooveyard for more details.

... We wrap up the month with an incredibly cool Rob Lamothe with Lisa Winn gig at the prestigious "R.I.T. college". It was a killer gig and Brother Rob treated us to a couple of awesome new trax. Special thanx goes out to Ron T. (aka "Sir Grooviness") and Lady Sue for all their work and efforts in setting up the gig.

NOVEMBER - 2000

... The "shine" disc is @ the manufacturer as we speak. We are gearing up for a December 1st release date. If you dig outstanding bluesy heavy guitar with style and class and with vocals to match, then you need to tune into the CRAIG ERICKSON PROJECT - "shine" disc.
On Thanskgiving nite, GROOVEYARD RECORDS will be guesting on the AXECALIBER radio show hosted by our good musical brother GENO DESI of GENERATIONS UNDERGROUND. We will be spinning several trax from the soon-to-be-released "shine" disc and it will mark the "world premiere" and sneak peek for the disc. This show will be broadcast over the internet. AXECALIBER is an awesome radio show dedicated to outstanding heavy guitar riffage from around the globe. ... We wrap up the layout & design with NYX @ mystif on the long-awaited "shine" disc by the CRAIG ERICKSON PROJECT featuring GLENN HUGHES and ROB LAMOTHE.
... CHRIS POLAND has been playing his ass off in L.A. these daze. Many kool people and killer guitarists have been checking out the live gigs @ the "baked potato". If you haven't picked up the "chasing the sun" disc yet, what are you waiting for?!!! It's an awesome disc on an amazing guitarist!!!

SEPTEMBER - 2000

... We continue to spread the word and music of CHRIS POLAND, one of the most awesome "BRAIN-DAMAGING" guitarists in the world!!! The OHM gig @ "G.I.T." in august was killer...check out the CHRIS POLAND website for some kool PICS from the gig and check the reviews section of this site for a REVIEW of the gig. Chis is currently building his studio and "gearing up" for the debut OHM disc which will be released sometime in 2001.
... CRAIG ERICKSON continues to gig heavily in Iowa and the midwest these daze playing a few huge festivals in the process, swingin' his axe hard and spreading his special brand of heavy-duty get-down bluesy heavy guitar riffage! The release date has been pushed back until december 1st. Be kool people, the disc will "rock your world" and it will be worth the wait...it's your time to "shine"!

AUGUST - 2000

... Chris Poland and his monster fusion power trio, OHM, play a gig @ the 'infamous' G.I.T. (Guitar Institute of Technology) on August 3rd. Big thanks to Unbelieveable Steveable at the grooveyard for setting up the gig!
... On Saturday, August 5th, we celebrate yet another awesome, intimate acoustic Rob Lamothe gig... this time at Moonbeam's "Concert by the Woods". We also celebrate the release of Lisa Winn's "Mother Earth" disc, produced by Rob Lamothe. By the way, how about dropping by Rob's site and signing his guestbook with a big "Happy Birthday to the Cake Eatin' Cowboy!!"
... Craig Erickson plays the Tommy Bolin Tribute Festival in Denver, Colorado. It was a huge musical event, paying homage to our good musical brother, Tommy Bolin. Long Live the spirit of Tommy Bolin. We start mastering the "Shine" disc. Get ready to rock, people!

JULY - 2000

... Brother Craig Erickson flies out to L.A. to mix the "Shine" disc with Greg Hampton @ the beginning of the month.
... On Saturday, July 8th, we celebrated another Rob Lamothe: "Unplugged @ the grooveyard" gig. It was a deep musical experience from an outstanding, gifted singer/songwriter in a class all his own.
... We start working on worldwide distribution for the Chris Poland "Chasing the Sun" disc. The reviews and positive 'feedback' for this awesome disc pour into the grooveyard!!!

JUNE - 2000

... @ the beginning of the month, our good musical brother Craig Erickson recorded the final THREE trax for the "SHINE" disc...
... "BREAK FREE" is a killer hard-assed get-down 70's power trio riff ripper... we hope to feature one of our all-time favorite 70's heavy guitar heros as a special guest on the track, by whom it was inspired...
... "DOOMSDAY BLUES" is a 9 minute SLOW BLUES HEAVY GUITAR TOUR DE FORCE... Craig digs deep and lets it all hang out on this amazing heavy minor blues groove. ... The 3rd and final track, "TILL THE SUN SHINES", is a groovy mid-paced in the back pocket bluesy hard rocker with a kool Trower vibe. Brother Craig sings and plays his soulful ass off on this kool track... one of Craig's finest vocal performances to date... the track grooves deeply in the grooveyard...
... Plans to start mixing the "SHINE" disc will fall into place in July or August... layout and design... manufacturing to follow with a release date of FALL/WINTER 2000. It's going to be an amazing disc...
... On the CHRIS POLAND front, we are working on a possible OHM gig @ the "infamous" G.I.T... all the serious g.i.t.ar freaks need to tune into the PURE HEAVY GUITAR BEAUTY of CHRIS POLAND. The G.I.T. gig would be a perfect vehicle for Chris, Robbie and David (OHM) to show off their vast musical talents...
... We also received an OUTSTANDING review of the "CHASING THE SUN" disc in a nationally distributed magazine called METAL MANIACS. The guy who wrote the review did an excellent job and paid Chris some well-deserved credit. He nailed the disc down... as soon as the review goes into print, we will be posting it on the grooveyard website... stay tuned, you won't want to miss this one...

MAY - 2000

... WOW!!! WHAT A MONTH!!!
... Thanx to all our fine musical brothers and sisters who have tuned into the CHRIS POLAND discs... thanx for the orders, support, interest and feedback. We have been getting some really positive kool reviews on the "Chasing the Sun" disc (we will be posting all the reviews on the site in the near future). ... Our good musical brother and serious heavy guitar freak, UNBELIEVABLE STEVEABLE, flew out to L.A. to hang with brother Chris and the groovy OHM people for a week. The "experience" tripped his brain hard and, according to "our boy", the new OHM trax are awesome beyond all human comprehension. From what we heard, the OHM gig @ the Baked Potato transcended reality as Chris took his guitar into outer space and beyond. The gig wound down with a cosmic heavy blues jam encore with an amazing "special guest" lead vocalist by the name of GREG ANALLA...
... Some of you in the know will remember GREG as the vocalist in the sadly now-defunkt outstanding progressive heavy rock band - SEVENTH SIGN. Greg is an amazing gifted vocalist with style, class, melody and range.
... Brother Steve was responsible for GREG "the voice" ANALLA showing up @ the Baked Potato gig and for instigating the jam... Greg is the goods in the vocal dept. and we hope that we can talk Chris and Greg into recording a studio demo together one day.
... BROTHER CRAIG ERICKSON has been jamming his ass off in Iowa these daze; he wrote several new killer trax for the forthcoming "SHINE" disc. In the middle of the month, we recorded two more awesome trax with the ever-amazing gifted beyond belief ROB LAMOTHE on vocals... this guy is "SOUL PERSONIFIED" and the GOODS in the grooveyard book...
... "FAMILIAR" is an extremely catchy up-tempo good ole fashioned bluesy hard rocker with tons of soul and class. A classic Craig Erickson track with tons of potential, it is slated for the possible single on the disc. We are talking about possibly releasing a c.d. single version of FAMILIAR with bonus unreleased material...
... "REMEMBER NOW" is a mid-paced heavy bluesy riff monster with a 70's trower vibe... a very kool heavy track... Rob sings his ass off on both trax...
... We wound down the month with an exclusive ROB LAMOTHE - "unplugged @ the grooveyard" live gig with special guest...the ever beautiful LISA WINN. With candles burning and the wine flowing, Rob and Lisa took us all on a deep musical journey with their "stripped down" acoustic beauty... never will I forget that moment in time as the walls melted with feel and emotion... Rob Lamothe is one of the greatest singer/songwriters of our time...
... The day after, on Memorial Day, we recorded a studio version of "ANGEL" by JIMI HENDRIX... (ANGEL is one of the most perfect songs ever written.). We stripped the track down to just Craig's soulful, beautiful guitar and Rob's awesome vocal power. Rob took the track into the next dimension with his "out of this world" soulful voice... he nailed the track down live on the second take and his performance defies description. Craig's stripped-down-to-two-guitars arrangement and interpretation is a beautiful thing to behold... Craig and Rob did an outstanding classy job on this laid-back musical gem and they really did the track some serious justice... it is one of the greatest things I've ever heard and without a doubt one of the koolest Hendrix "cover" trax ever recorded... Jimi is smiling... wherever he is... with the power of soul... anything is possible...
... ANGEL will be the last track on the SHINE disc... a "final peace"... so to speak...
... MAY 2000 is a month I won't soon forget... sunshine and smiles...

APRIL - 2000

... April was a busy month @ the grooveyard. It started off with the release of the CHRIS POLAND: "rare trax" disc. "rare trax" is an amazing, in-depth look at an amazing, gifted guitarist. The disc features 14 trax recorded through the years - (post-DAMN THE MACHINE) and proves just how versatile and musically rich Brother Chris truly is. We worked closely with Chris on the material that made this disc and none of this awesome music has never seen the light of day... UNTIL NOW!!! ...We have also made some serious progress this month on the Craig Erickson Project - "Shine" disc. March found Brother Craig recording a "brilliant" version of the classic Tommy Bolin track called "Wild Dogs" with some very special guests lending their talents, including Brother Johnny Bolin on drums and legendary rock vocalist Glenn Hughes laying down his awesome vocal power on the track. Everyone involved really produced and gave it some serious musical justice! Long live the "spirit" of Tommy Bolin.
Also this month we started recording a killer heavy track called "Bus Stop" which is scheduled to possibly feature one of our favorite 70s heavy guitar heros on some serious get-down hard-assed heavy guitar ripping with Brother Craig.. and quite possibly one of our favorite vocalists will be laying down his "righteous" soulful vocal power on the track...we hope and pray that all the pieces fall into place on this amazing track. This jam is gonna blow a lot of musical minds! If all goes as planned, we are shooting for an October-November release date on the Craig Erickson Project - "Shine" disc...stay tuned to the grooveyard for more details!

FEBRUARY - 2000

We finally "wrap up" the layout and design on the "Chasing the Sun" project and it is sent to the C.D. manufacturer...the C.D. is being pressed as we speak!!! Needless to say, all of us here at the grooveyard are extremely "pumped up" about the awesome "Chasing the Sun" disc!!! Brother CHRIS POLAND is keeping busy in L.A. gigging and rehearsing new trax for the OHM disc...
CRAIG ERICKSON hangs out at the NAMM SHOW endorsing VIGIER GUITARS (awesome French guitar company) and is inspired to write an amazing heavy track called "BUS STOP" which kicks some serious heavy guitar ass!!! "BUS STOP" was written with one of our all-time favorite vocalists in mind and his vocals would be awesome beyond all reason on this track...there is also talk of one of our favorite get-down Hendrixy guitar rippers guesting on this track with brother Craig...with the power of soul, anything is possible!!!

JANUARY - 2000

The CRAIG ERICKSON PROJECT: "shine" session went so well that we decided to record two more awesome trax this month...brother ROB LAMOTHE was kool enough to grace the new trax with his AWESOME VOCAL POWER!!! He sings his ass off on the two classic trax and his performance reaches legendary status...there is a beautiful chemistry between the vocals and guitar...
...We continue to put the "finishing touches" on the "Chasing the Sun" layout and design...we're almost there!!!

DECEMBER - 1999

...December was a busy month for us here at the grooveyard! CHRIS POLAND dug deep into the "archives" and turned us onto a couple of extra way-kool trax to be included on the "Chasing the Sun" disc! The trax are deep, intimate and personal and we dig the laid-back heavy vibe. Chris was also kool enough to "share" a killer "live" OHM track, aptly titled "Alexandria 99" as a BONUS TRACK for the "Chasing the Sun" disc. We are still working on the layout and design...the "Chasing the Sun" disc is scheduled for a late February/early March 2000 release. The disc is shaping up to be a real HEAVY GUITAR MONSTER!!! Stay tuned to the grooveyard for more details...
...December also found us starting work on the CRAIG ERICKSON PROJECT: "SHINE" disc. For those of you who may not know, brother Craig is one of the most brilliant, underrated, blues/rock axeslingers we've ever heard...we have "big plans" for the "Shine" disc and it will prove to be Craig's finest hour and ultimate heavy guitar statement. The disc will feature many awesome surprize guests. Recording started at he beginning of December with an amazing gifted vocalist named ROB LAMOTHE lending his beautiful righteous soulful vocals on the title track. "Shine" cuts deep and Rob is one of the best vocalists we've ever heard...(for you rock trivia buffs, brother Rob used to be the "leading force" behind a band called RIVERDOGS).

Grooveyard gets off the ground... We start work on the website and then gear up for our first C.D. release, the highly anticipated "Chasing the Sun" by gifted guitarist, Chris Poland. Chris masters the trax with James Lomenzo in L.A.
