"Still Frame Replay," the new CD by Henrik Freischlader, opens with Joe Bonamassa on lead -- displaying his considerable chops -- and it picks up from there. That's right, I said it: "picks up from there." Don't get me wrong -- the Bonamassa track is incredible, as is his playing. But Freischlader is a phenomenon! He ably moves the CD into overdrive, with taste and playing-skills that equal if not surpass his distinguished guest. Fact is, Freischlader is Germany's secret weapon -- a blues-rock guitar powerhouse with virtuosity and taste that makes one think of Hendrix or Winter shot full of Satriani-like chops.
