The train rushes past a woman sitting on a ledge. You and the passengers sitting behind panoramic windows wave to each other. The retro ambience is continued in a further illustration on the inside of the digipak. It says in large letters: "Ride the Rails of the Retro-Sonic Blues Train".

Like the passengers, Dirty Dave Osti has also booked a ticket for the "Retro-Sonic Blues Train". Dirty Dave Osti recorded the eleven songs in solo mode. The nine original compositions are supplemented by two cover songs. On the one hand it is the Bad Company number "Seagull" from their album Bad Company. On the other hand we are dealing with "Baptism Of Fire" by Tony Colton / Eddy Shaver. The present record is the sixth release of the musician of the well-tempered blues rock.

Then we go on the journey in the said train. The train goes to eleven stations. The protagonist cooked his blues rock to the point. In general, his songs are nice and crisp. Dirty Dave Osti reveals his understanding of the rocking 12-stroke in a very attractive way. Large format guitar action meets pleasantly quiet phases that even lead to the slow blues. So you can enjoy the electric blues in the slowed down version. Going it alone is splendid and then the musician sets big exclamation marks in further ballads. As if there were this beautiful "Seagull" and "Goldmine". Two examples of the fact that the blues player can interpret brilliantly and let ballades from his own pool flow out of the loudspeakers. He sets wonderful percussion accents and "Goldmine" is longing and sentimentality combined in one person. To the acoustic guitar and sensitive piano accompaniment, Dirty Dave Osti causes goose bumps throughout the entire piece. So the album closes - even if he lets the electric six-string have its say in a calm mood at the end - but with a moment of surprise. Highlight!

Dirty Dave Osti wouldn't be Dirty Dave Osti if he didn't also play the cracking blues rock. The people of the slide sound get their money's worth as well as those of the enjoyable riffing variant. His solos are all outstanding - whether hearty or with the handbrake on slightly. Those who like the boogie in the blues will also get their money's worth. You also like its twin sounds. Dirty Dave Osti's vocals are beyond reproach. You also have to praise the musician as a multi-instrumentalist. Each of the instruments he uses is far from being simple.

The almost fifty-minute ride on the "Retro-Sonic Blues Train" is really worthwhile. We hear Dirty Dave Osti in top form. The balance between blues rock and ballads is excellent. With "Retro-Sonic Blues Train" balance is the key. Hats off, Dirty Dave Osti! Stay healthy and make time to enjoy good music as a distraction.

Retro-Sonic Blues Train is the 6th album of multi-instrumentalist/singer/songwriter DAVE OSTI, an incredible talented musician from California who does everything on his own, and he does it really well. He has this cool pure 70s groovy classic rock guitarsound and his voice sounds raw and crispy, just the way it needs to sound for his 70s heavy blues rock orientated material. Rockers like Kiss The Pain, The Drifter, River Of Shame (a bit southern rock ish, superb melodies) and When The Walls Come Down take you back straight to the 1970s, reminding of PAT TRAVERS, FOGHAT, HUMBLE PIE, ROBIN TROWER, MOUNTAIN, RORY GALLAGHER, 70s GARY MOORE, 70s ZZ TOP, etc. etc. There’s also time for a lovely melodic bluesy ballad such as Bleeding Wishes, which is a must-hear for any GARY MOORE fans, and how about the laid-back closing track Goldmine, which also feels like a goldmine! This is really a step back in time, but in a good way for sure! I wish he would do a tour over here, because I am sure the place will be crowded and sweaty when he does his thing live in front of an audience!

Dave Osti ala "Dirty Dave” puts out another killer cd in "Retro-Sonic Blues Train". Again Dave is a one man band handling all the instruments. But you would never know it. Hard to believe it's all just him. It does make me angry that you dont see enough about Dave on alot of the blues rock internet publications. He is my opinion one of the best in the genre. He writes great songs. Has as always heavy groove laden blues guitar riffs and killer solos. I think he actually is getting better overall with time and this new album is a testament for that. A lot great rock with groove. His vocals have a bluesy soul too. He also can bring it down a notch and get tender as well. If you love guitar rock with that Retro 70’s vibe and blues rock this album as well all his others should be in your music stable. And also I just love the album layout and design art by Nyxian:Drift.
