The Nandha Blues CD, “Black Strawberry Mama,” is reminiscent of both the Yardbirds and Canned Heat, but it's also as original as a disk can be. The music partakes of the hard-rock-blues idiom of the late 60s and early 70s, but reconstitutes the genre for modern times, with first-rate musicianship and a unique musical style. There are also elements of the Allman Brothers band here, and along those lines, guitarist Max Arrigo offers up a tasteful blend of Duane Allman and Derek Trucks, finding his own place in guitar history as a result. A must add-on to any blues-rock or guitar virtuoso collection.
