Sweden has produced a number of guitar heroes, from Yngwie Malmsteen to John Norum, but few capture the spirit of Blues-Rock like Jan Gerfast. Making good use of the standard trio formula, this retro-70s guitar god tells a familiar story with his instrument -- but he tells it in his own way. The songs hold together with the cement of his fine guitar work, informed by the masters who came before him. He infuses life into every note, as if he has a special sanction or even blessing from his obvious influences -- Hendrix, Trower, Marino, and Clapton. By the time the Hendrix bonus track appears at the end of the disc, you're ready for anything, and Gerfast indeed gives it to you -- hard and intense, with feeling. You don't want to miss this!
