Having known them for their album Greetings for the Karma Factory (2012), we now have their most recent CD, Live in Denmark. At the same time, the Black Moon Creep agency has organized a tour of this band throughout Spain for the month of May, and you should not miss it.

There are 11 powerful songs, which recall all the power trios in history, from Cream, although for me they have a great touch from guitarists like Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush, who they cover with an unreleased "Land Of 1000 Nights". On guitar and vocals the incredible Martin J. Andersen.

The CD begins with a pre-recorded orchestration that introduces the live performance, opening with the powerful “Freedom's Calling”, one of the songs that has the spirit of guitarists like Zakk Wylde and his Black Label Society in those moments so southern that sometimes the band distills .

After “Temple Trippin '” comes “Rock Your Mojo” with its strong southern accent, which is repeated throughout the album, to give way to Marino's version, which shows the band hot and in all its splendor.

Another highlight of the CD is the interpretation of "Struck Down By The Blues", white blues on all sides, and Who says this is not true blues? Cut out his tongue!

Two Jimi Hendrix covers, "Stone Free" and "Are You Experienced," grace the concert. And we are struck by how the songs composed in the 21st century are mixed with classic songs from the sixties and the difference in time is not noticed, because Blindstone has learned to maintain the immortal spirit of rock of a lifetime.

The whole album, like the music of the band, breathes a retro vintage air of the seventies in its purest essence. We accept without hesitation the definition that the band makes of itself and that it is difficult to translate into Spanish without losing part of its meaning: true retro heavy guitar rock power trio.

Those who have been to the concerts will remember it for a long time.

This album is for fans of Jimi Hendrix, Robin Trower, Frank Marino, Mountain, Cream, Eric Gales and King's X.

The CD was recorded live at the Plantagehuset, Thisted, Denmark, on June 8, 2013. Released this year, produced by Martin J. Andersen and Joe Romagnola.

Danish band Blindstone have been paying homage to Jimi Hendrix since they first started jamming together back in 2003. Five albums later, they now release Live in Denmark, a collection of their favorite tracks played live and a permanent testament to their passion and spirit. The recording, captured at the Plantagehuset (night club) Thisted, Denmark, bursts to life with excitement and energy. Led by guitarist Martin J. Andersen with bassist Jesper Bunk and drummer Anders Hvidtfeldt, the trio dig deep into the modern archives of electric blues. Scorching versions of Hendrix classics “Stone Free” and “Are You Experienced” thrill fans of guitar rock. Andersen is a master craftsmen scaling the frets with expert precision. His whiskey baritone gives the songs an added validity as the rhythm section hammers away like a locomotive. The band slay the crowd with the Mahogany Rush cover “Land of 1000 Nights” and Journey’s ball-breaking deep cut “Karma” (Next, 1977). Older originals “Temple Trippin” and “Freedom’s Calling” sit nicely alongside newer songs “Rock Your Mojo” and “Struck down by the Blues”. Of course the pièce de résistance is the nine and a half minute “GM1 Jam” (found on the band’s Rare Tracks CD). A fusion and musical color and rhythmic texture, the track dances with raw feedback, emotional tenderness and amplified aggression. Stunning!

The reputation of Blindstone is truly stunning to date. The band, centered around the magnificent guitarist Martin J. Andersen, is generally regarded as one of the best European blues-rock combos of today. So it seems clear that they would be a strong live band and, as they did not already have a live disc in the Blindstone catalog, this gap has now been closed with the release of "Live In Denmark".

The trio butters the bread of their previous five albums with great cover material. Andersen is in great form, improvising again and again to elicit many new facets from these songs, which manifests itself especially in 'Stone Free' and 'Are You Experienced', highlighted in the captivating 'GM1 Jam'. But the band's discography shines, namely 'Temple Trippin' and 'Karma', in which the lead guitarist at times pulls back and hits the brakes in favor of relevant grooves. The solo in 'Land Of 1000 Nights' for example, is over the top, while the extravaganzas during the last three tracks justify standing ovation. "Live In Denmark" is exactly to the point and consistently authentic at sheer volume!

Now this is how to do a live album! No gimmicks, no extended stage raps, no copious amount of overdubs; in short, no bullshit. That's Live In Denmark from the riffin' blues beast that is Blindstone. Combining a stinging set of their own mighty compositions to some obvious and some not so obvious covers, this trio of power serve up a live offering that simply seduces and smashes from the off. "Freedom's Calling" is how to kick off a show, "Temple Trippin'" how to create a knock out one-two. "Rock Your Mojo" allows you to regain your balance, as the heavy rockin' blues riffs roll over you, this band's ability to smoothly shift up and down through the gears a sound to behold. "Land Of 1000 Nights" is the set's first cover, a blistering take on the Mahogany Rush track growing into a mid paced powerhouse, before the early Journey of "Karma" reminds us just what Neal Schon and Gregg Rolie were all about before they kept on believing! The version here spits with fiery ferocity, guitarist Martin J. Andersen laying the groove down thick and fat, as he does throughout, drummer Anders Hvidtfeldt illustrating his ever apparent authority as he hammers out the beat. Add in the dextrous bass work from Jesper Bunk and it's simply no surprise that "Struck Down By The Blues" hits you like an express train or that "Waste A Little Time On Me" oozes and cruises in a fashion you simply can't resist.

If ever a song was well named, then it's "Keep The Rock Alive", Blindstone proving that they know how to do just that, before the Hendrix pair of "Stone Free" and "Are You Experienced" show that it is possible to roll out the classics with new life and feel. In this genre Hendrix is untouchable and yet Blindstone know how to pay respect, while infusing their own personality into these well loved numbers. "GM1 Jam" closes the show, the extended workout a welcome excuse for the trio, and especially Andersen, to show their ability; the breathless reception it receives from the apparently small, but vociferous crowd proof it was as effective on the night as it is on disc. If I was being ultra critical, then with only eleven tracks on show, a couple less covers and a couple more Blindstone originals would have been ideal, however when every track on show pulsates and bites in the way they do here, I'm arguing over small potatoes. Long term fans of this band and new converts alike will find barrow loads to excite and enthral them on Live In Denmark. After all, is there a better sound than a band firing on all six as they put their heads down and groove? On this evidence, I think not!

"Live" is an understatement. These guys are smokin, more live than live! This is blues-based hard rock at its best. Martin Andersen and crew deliver big time. His guitar playing in particular is reminiscent of the guitar gods of old, from Beck and Hendrix to Eric Johnson and beyond. All great material too. They cover the classics 'Karma' and '1,000 Nights' with class and feeling, but some of their originals are equally good. I especially like 'Struck Down by the Blues' and 'Waste a Little Time on Me.' Both show the band's playing chops and songwriting talents. But, for my money, the best tracks on the CD are the last three -- two nods to Jimi -- 'Stone Free' and 'Are you Experienced?', and a special jam session, which is basically a tasteful conglomeration of various ideas and riffs, combined in a most tasty and bluesy way. It has to be heard to be believed! Meanwhile, those two Hendrix covers are the main prizes of this disc, with Andersen extending the solos into realms that Hendrix himself would have been proud of. This CD is an A-1 blues-rock extravaganza.

Danish power blues rock trio Blindstone are back with their sixth release, the LIVE recording, 'Live In Denmark'. Martin J. Andersen Guitar & vocals, Jesper Bunk Bass and Anders Hvidtfeldt Drums. The trio hold nothing back and go for the jugular with 11 powerhouse tracks. What you hear and experience is the unvarnished honesty of a true power trio playing their hearts out like there's no tomorrow. Just stellar playing throughout. The ability of the trio to lay out their very soul on these cuts is just mind blowing! Once you press play your senses are immediately stimulated and you feel just how awesome this trio truly are. Blindstone unleash fan favorites with, "Freedom's Calling", "Temple Trippin", "Struck Down By The Blues", "Waste A Little Time On Me" and "Keep The Rock Alive". The trio also serve up four great covers including: Mahogany Rush's "Land Of 1000 Nights", A mind blowing cover of the early Journey song, "Karma". That being said the two cover tunes that impressed me the most were Jimi Hendrix's, "Stone Free" and "Are You Experienced". The power, the soulfulness and the love of each musician here for the music is what makes this powerful live recording unique. If what you want is astonishing musicians improvising and creating jams that make you smile and wonder at the talent that can come from an individual, then get your hands of this album. Blindstone is a great Blues Rock band! Don't be fooled into thinking that they're just another boring jam band, make no mistake, they ROCK! GREAT SONGS! GREAT MUSICIANSHIP! A BAND'S BAND! A no-brainer if you're into smoking blues rock music done right, get this CD now! GREAT BLUES ROCK from an intense and tight live band. - Highly Recommended.
